Reducing the transit time China-Russia
PJSC TransContainer reduces the transit time of trains on the China-Russia route
PJSC TransContainer, Chinese container operator China Railways Container Transport (CRCT) and Liaoning Port Group organized the shipment of container trains from China to Russia using the 3 by 2 scheme. The project is being implemented with the support of the Tongliao government (Inner Mongolia, PRC), Shenyang and Harbin railways, as well as the customs of Manzhouli.
Container trains with passenger cars (total cargo of 270 TEU) set off on June 28, 2019 from Zabaikalsk station, where they were overloaded by the 3 by 2 scheme at the company’s terminal, i.e., three trains were re-formed by direct overload into two. Then they proceeded through the territory of Russia to Moscow and on July 8 arrived at the Vorotynsk station.
“The 3 by 2 project allows us to overcome the problem of differences in the length of trains adopted in China and Russia. At the same time, the total transit time of transportation is reduced due to more efficient reloading of containers from narrow gauge wagons to wide gauge wagons, which, of course, increases the route’s attractiveness and a new point of traffic growth, ”noted the acting president.
